Yin and Yoga Nidra
Yin Yoga is a slower-paced practice which focuses on the energetic Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians while physically works on the plastic tissues of the body (joints, ligaments, bones, etc.) in a meditative way. Many of the Yin poses are held for 3-5 minutes with the use of props for sustainability. This practice is a wonderful way to safely bring attention and nourishment to specific areas that are often neglected. After a soothing Yin series, the class finishes with a restful, restorative, and rejuvenating Yoga Nidra; also referred to as "Yogic sleep" or "meditative sleep". Yoga Nidra is performed while lying in savasana, completely supported with props and warmly covered with blankets and eye pillows to allow the practitioner to sink into conscious restfulness. Yoga Nidra is said to be 4 times as restful as deep sleep (meaning, 15 minutes of Yoga Nidra = 1 hour of deep rest!). You will be guided, held, and restored with your body as the vehicle into easeful rejuvenation.
